Cahill Park Masterplan
Thanks to its unique location on the foreshore of Cooks River, Cahill Park is a site with a considerable community interest. The first signs of formalised use of the park occurred when Cahill Park was officially opened in 1961. From about early 2000 new pressures on the park have become apparent in connection with increased rate of change in immediate neighbourhood. Umbaco has been engaged to review and update a previous masterplan. We have prepared a comprehensive analysis including elements such as the use of park, circulation within the park and connections through and beyond, integration with existing uses and proposals for future uses and improvements. The key task of the design team lead by Umbaco was to essentially re-invent the role of Cahill Park in its place.
Extensive community consultation was undertaken and has helped guide the development of the masterplan. As a result, one of the first priorities has become to deliver a regional playspace located in the north west corner of the site. Umbaco was subsequently engaged to design and document the Cahill Park Playspace.
