This inner-city local park in Alexandria was a rundown un-official dog park. City of Sydney allocated modest funds to revitalize the space and make it inviting for all local residents, not only for dog owners. Umbaco was engaged to prepare a number of concept options that were assessed by City of Sydney and we then progressed into detail documentation. We created a generous circular meeting place reflecting the canopy space between the surrounding trees to encourage residents to socialize together (our final concept design shown left).
Robust pavements and finishes border a small turf area. Gardens containing some colourful seasonal shrubs, were extended around existing mature trees. Really the success of this park is in its simplicity and practicality.
