Woodstock Infants at Wenona
These dynamic outdoor courtyards were built as part of the construction of new “Woodstock” Junior School at Wenona . Our challenge was to create amphitheatre seating within a relatively small courtyard whilst also emphasising the main entry to “Woodstock”.
We wanted the space to have a strongly feminine feel and so the elegant curves have almost a “Gaudi-esque” character. Although the courtyard does not contain any prescriptive play elements the students are encouraged to use their imagination and are engaged to socialise or enjoy the ambience for a quiet moment of reflection just sitting on the terraces.
Outdoor space is integrated with internal space offering truly stimulating learning environment. The roof top of the new school provides additional play opportunities and a sheltered BBQ area for senior students.
